Where can I sell my autographs in the UK?

If you want to sell your autograph collection then today you have many choices. The internet means that you find a dealer near you or sell directly via ebay, but selling via ebay can provide problems as buyers will often only buy an autograph if it has been properly authenticated, and dealing with this kind of thing on ebay can be very difficult.

You can use a regular auction, but most auction houses are really only house clearance people (although they will often claim to be fine art specialists!) and will not really have the customer base to suit your items. There are some specialists, but you will need to wait until the right auction comes along, then agree a reserve price then hope that a buyer will bid, and of course pay for the items. Once that is done you will need to wait normally 30 days for payment, and your payment will come less the auction fees which can be more than 30% and in some cases auctions also take a fee for storage, images, insurance etc, which can all add up, so do always make sure you read their terms for sellers.

You could also sell direct to a dealer, which will mean you will not get the full retail price that you might like, but then the dealer has to make a profit, and will often have to have your items in stock for a long period before they sell. The benefit is that you sell the items on quickly without any of the hassle of dealing with a number of collectors, who will no doubt be asking about authenticity and COA's etc!
